Department of Cardiac Surgery

The Department of Cardiac Surgery is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to patients with cardiac disorders that require surgery. The Department is committed to the development of new approaches and techniques offering patients the best surgical alternatives while minimizing hospital stay and health care costs. The Department provides diagnosis and treatment of a complete spectrum of acquired and congenital diseases of the heart and great vessels in adults and children.

The Department of Cardiac Surgery performs over 300 open heart surgeries annually. To cope with the increasing flow of the patients, the hospital is constructing two new operation theaters and ICU complex situated at the top of cardiac catheterization laboratory. Our objectives for the coming year are to consolidate on our achievements and increase our volume of surgery to over 500 with emphasis on making newer techniques and technology more accessible.

The Department of Cardiac Surgery is active in carrying out research in the relevant field. We have presented the results in national and international conferences. The department has also initiated a training program in perfusion medicine which provides hand on training during the course of study.
